“Southern California Edison shut down power on scene to try and make repairs to the transformer,” said Captain Al Bustillos of the Los Angeles County Fire Department Station No. 128.
The transformer is located underground at the intersection of Soledad and White Canyon Roads.
Walgreens and The Doctor’s Office on Soledad Canyon lost power.
Walgreens did not allow customers in the building, but tried to assist pharmacy customers by transferring their prescriptions to other locations.
“We’re gonna stay until hopefully power gets back,” said Nick Sifers, the store manager at Walgreens.
The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station was on site to try and keep the scene clear.
Initial reports stated that someone heard a crackling before 11 a.m.
No one was injured.
