6:AM Update 5-2-13: Santa Clarita Sheriff's Department reports no new information on the investigation. Suspect still remains at large.
12:45AM UPDATE: Sgt. Valentine at the Santa Clarita Sheriff's Station confirms that they have called off the active search for the evening and that the suspect remains at large.
As of 12:20am Thursday, Sierra Highway was reopening, and residents in the area were reporting to KHTS that they were starting to be allowed to return to their homes. The suspect remains at large, and the manhunt continues.
Detectives with the Sheriff's Department's Homicide Bureau have been called to the area, according to Sheriff's Station officials.

They would not confirm whether the suspect has been killed, but a blood trail was reported near the wash where the shooter was suspected to be hiding.
Homicide detectives are called to the scene any time a deputy-involved shooting occurs, said Deputy Josh Dubin of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station.
"Any time there is a hit shooting, or what is presumed to be a hit shooting, homicide detectives respond to the scene of the deputy-involved shooting to investigate," Dubin said. "Homicide is one of the many facets who investigate deputy-involved shootings."
A helicopter unit with the Sheriff's Department is still searching for the suspect, as of 10:38 p.m.
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies are looking for a suspect who fired a gun at deputies in Canyon Country, a Sheriff’s Station official said Wednesday night.
Deputies are looking for Corey Paul Kieffer, a white, 28-year-old male with "spiky hair," who was last seen wearing a black shirt and a blue ball cap, said Deputy Mark Wood of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials.
Kieffer is described as 5 feet, 9 inches tall and 140-pounds.
“It’s an active crime scene right now,” Wood said, “near Sierra Highway and Soledad Canyon Road. People should stay away.”
Canine units are assisting in looking for the suspect. No deputies were wounded in the shooting, Wood said.
The suspect is believed to have a black semiautomatic pistol, Wood said.
Sheriff's Station officials said they are searching numerous addresses for the suspect.
The shooting took place near Sarabande Road and Dolan Street, according to Sheriff’s Station officials.
No one is allowed in or out of the Sheriff Station's containment area up Sierra Highway, near Sarabande and Sherzinger roads, according to the Sheriff Station's Twitter feed.
Deputies from the Sheriff's Station in Lancaster have come down to assist in the search.
Traffic in the area is being redirected, according to Sheriff’s Station officials. Deputies are looking for a suspect in the wash, in that area and in the area near the American Beauty condo complex.
No further details, including what prompted the incident, are available at this time. No suspects are in custody yet.
