The following is a snapshot of Part-1 crimes reported last week.
16 Part-1 crimes were reported in Zone 8 last week:
18000 Block of Jakes Way – Suspect arrested after he got into a physical altercation with his girlfriend.
27000 Block of Rock Rose Lane – Suspect arrested after he kidnapped a woman he was dating. Suspect was additionally charged with assault with a deadly weapon and criminal threats after he pointed a firearm at the victim and threatened her family.
18000 Block of Soledad Canyon Road – Four male Hispanics ages 20-30 beat the victim who was standing by his car saying goodnight to his girlfriend.
19000 Block of Golden Valley Road – Kohl’s – Suspect approached the victim with a hammer when the victim attempted to detain a female for shoplifting.
18000 Block of Anne’s Circle – Suspect arrested after he got into a physical altercation with his wife and forcibly took her cell phone from her hands.
15000 Block of Leigh Court – Suspect stole jewelry, passport, and checkbook belonging to the victim after gaining access to the residence by prying the garage door open.
29000 Sequoia Road – Victim scared victim off as he was climbing through an unlocked bedroom window. Suspect knocked at front door prior to trying to break in.
16000 Block of Sierra Hwy – Victim believes suspect stole jewelry while contracted to work at her residence.
17000 Block of Scherzinger Lane – Tool taken from the tool box in the bed of the victim’s truck. Tool box did not lock.
27000 Block of Solamint Road – Suspect stole items from the victim’s locked vehicle. No sign of forced entry.
30000 Block of Jasmine Valley Drive – Suspect smashed the window of the victim’s vehicle and stole her purse which was LEFT ON THE FRONT SEAT.
Grand Theft Auto:
27000 Block of Solamint Road – Suspect stole the victim’s 2000 Lincoln Towncar.
Sandy Dr X Jake’s Way – Suspect stole the victim’s 2001 Toyota Rav 4.
30000 Jasmine Valley – Suspect stole the victim’s 2008 Ford F150.
18000 Soledad Canyon Rd. – Suspect stole the victim’s 2005 Chrysler 300.
28000 Solamint Rd. – Suspect stole the victim’s 1991 Toyota Camry.

This past week in Zone 7, the following Part-1 crimes occurred:
(2) Aggravated Assaults, (1) Robbery, (1) Residential Burglary, (3) Vehicle Burglaries, (2) Shoplifts, (2) Petty Thefts and (1) GTA/Recovery.
An aggravated assault occurred on Monday, 12/31/12, near the 20400 block of Soledad Canyon Rd. The victim’s son-in-law threw an object at her and struck her on the hand. The suspect was arrested on domestic violence and elder abuse charges.
On Saturday, 01/05/13, an aggravated assault/GTA occurred near the 21500 block of Golden Triangle Rd. Deputies were responding to a GTA just occurred call when an observant deputy located the vehicle on Soledad Cyn Rd. A short pursuit ensued when the suspects failed to yield to deputy personnel. The pursuit came to an end when the suspect’s vehicle collided with several other vehicles at the intersection of Camp Plenty Rd./Soledad Canyon Rd. Both the driver and passenger of the vehicle were arrested at the scene. The stolen vehicle was also recovered.
A strong arm robbery occurred near the 26400 block of Carl Boyer Dr. Walmart loss prevention attempted to detain a shoplifting suspect when the suspect began to fight with the officer. The suspect fled the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
Two window smash burglaries occurred in Zone 7 last week, both incidents occurring on Wednesday, 01/02/13. One vehicle was broken into in the parking lot of the Park and Ride located west of the 14 Fwy/Golden Valley Rd. Another vehicle was broken into near the 18600 block of Via Princessa. The vehicle was parked in a fitness center parking lot.
A petty theft/shoplift occurred near the 19400 block of Soledad Canyon Rd. Loss prevention detained two suspects after observing them stuffing items into their pockets and failing to pay for the items. Responding deputies arrested both suspects.

Zone 2 is starting of the New Year right! There were no Part-1 crimes reported for the first week of 2013.

Here's a summary of Newhall incidents:
During the past week Newhall (Zone 6) had five reported Part-1 crimes. Newhall saw one reported vehicle burglary, one residential burglary, one arson, one assault, and one shoplifting theft.
On Saturday, 01/05/2013, at approximately 3:00 a.m., an incident of vehicle arson was reported in the area of Newhall Avenue and the SR-14 (freeway). When deputies arrived they observed an SUV completely on fire. This vehicle fire is currently under investigation as arson. No further information is avail at this time. (ref -00206).
A vehicle burglary reportedly took place on Saturday, 01/05/2013, between 1:00 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. The driver’s side window was smashed and the suspect(s) made entry into the vehicle. A briefcase was stolen. The incident occurred in the 25000 block of Peachland Avenue (ref -00210).
A shoplifting incident occurred where alcohol was stolen on Sunday, 01/06/2013, at approximately 2:10 p.m. This incident occurred at a supermarket located in the 24100 block of Lyons Avenue (ref -00255).
Numerous arrests continue to be made by proactive deputies assigned to patrol in Newhall (Zone 6). On Monday, 12/31/2012, at approximately 12:10 p.m., a deputy conducted a traffic stop in the area of Wiley Canyon Road and La Glorita Circle in Newhall. The vehicle the deputy pulled over displayed 2013 registration tabs when the vehicle’s registration was actually expired. After an investigation a 29 year-old female was arrested for possession of a switchblade, false display of registration tabs, and driving on a suspended license.
Here's a summary of Saugus incidents:
For the New Year we started off with a reduction in Part-1 crimes with a total of six. There was a strong-arm robbery on Tuesday, 01/01/2013, near the corner of Old Spanish Trail and Placerview Trail. Two people leaving a party got a ride from four strangers. The strangers pulled over down the road from the party and attempted to rob the victims. Deputies were called to the incident and located the suspect vehicle. Three suspects were arrested.
There was a burglary from a bank located along 23800 block of Copper Hill Dr. on Wednesday, 01/02/2013, at 5:45 p.m. The suspect attempted to withdraw money from the victim’s account using false documents. When confronted by the teller the suspect ran. Deputies responded to the location where they located and arrested the suspect without incident.
Saugus High School was broken into over the New Year between Monday, 12/31/2012 and Wednesday, 01/02/2013. Person(s) unknown broke into an office and stole miscellaneous items. Santa Clarita Station detectives are actively working the case.
There were two thefts from unlocked vehicles over the past week. The first occurred in the 28300 block of Mirabelle Lane between Monday, 12/31/2012 and Tuesday, 01/01/2013. Person(s) unknown entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole miscellaneous personal items. The second occurred in the 24015 block of Copper Hill Dr. between Wednesday, 01/02/2013 and Thursday, 01/03/13. Person(s) unknown entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole one item.
There was one petty theft in the 27700 block of Bouquet Canyon Road on Friday, 01/04/13, between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. The victim had his bike stolen which he left unattended and unlocked in front of the location. Detectives are attempting to obtain security video of the incident.
In addition to the two arrests already mentioned, deputies made several other arrests in the Saugus area over the past week.
Reminder: Don’t Drink and Drive. There was one arrest of a drunk driver in Saugus who was involved in an accident with her child in the vehicle. The mother was arrested for child endangerment and drunk driving. Please remember that drinking and driving do not mix. If you are going to drink please designate a sober driver. A few drinks and a bad choice are not worth a lifetime of regret.
Here's a summary of Stevenson Ranch incidents:
This week Stevenson Ranch had 8 reported Part-1 crimes. Of those crimes, there was one residential burglary, five incidents of petty theft, one vehicle burglary, and one shoplifting.
A hot prowl burglary occurred in the 26100 block of Quartz Meza Lane. (https://local.nixle.com/alert/4941061/  ) Two suspects entered the victims home while she was upstairs. The suspects grabbed her purse and ran out. The victim confronted the suspects in the driveway and grabbed her purse from the suspect. As the victim was attempting to take a picture of the suspect’s license plate, the suspect lunged at her causing her to take a picture of the suspect.
After an extensive investigation conducted by the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Detective Bureau, a suspect was arrested.
An iPhone was stolen from Wal-Mart after it was left behind at the register. Money was stolen from a locker at LA Fitness. A theft occurred in the 25900 block of Verandah Court where packages were stolen from the porch after they were delivered. A leaf blower was stolen from the back of a pick-up truck in the 26000 block of Bates Street. An iPod was stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 25500 block of Hemmingway Avene. A vehicle burglary occurred in the 27500 block of The Old Road. Two suspects are in custody after they were caught shoplifting at Wal-Mart.
An additional narcotic arrest was made by proactive deputies.
Due to the recent burglaries occurring, make sure to always lock your doors and windows. Always LOCK your vehicles and do not leave personal items visible.
