Senior Hour hosted by Dr. Gene Dorio and Barbara Cochran is a show by and for and about seniors about enhancing quality of life.  On today’s episode, Dr. Jessica Eckengren of Eckengren Chiropractics comes in and talks about how important it is to be flexible later in life.   90 is old age, and at this point in our lives we should be too stiff and get old too fast.  There are a lot of companies out there that are trying to sell you a drugs and creams that will make you look younger or feel younger, and a lot of times that is just a rip off, a scam.  Just yesterday there was a study going into the claims of companies that vitamin D helps with knee pain, and it turns out it does not.

Barbara asks Dr. Eckengren about how to naturally extend longevity.  The key is quality of life.  If someone is happy with their body, if they do not have to feel pain every time the get up out of bed, if they are limited to small activities because their body will not let them go out and do more, it wears you down.  So how do we go about doing that?  Well, each individual are different, but the thing with seniors have spent their entire lives building postural distortions.  This means that their skeleton has moved out of alignment, pinching the nerve and moving muscles making them not work correctly.  So when you loose equality from your right and left side of your body, it starts to slow down and not work.  If a senior maintains equality, they fall down less, they stay healthy, but is it harder for a senior to maintain equality? The answer is no.  If someone stretches every day and takes simple steps towards their health like proper diet and exercise, they could achieve equality.  And it is easier now because of all the advances in medicine such as chiropractics, seniors can get help wherever they need it. And with all of this, they will feel less pain, less fatigue, less depression. And this is all natural, instead of seniors depending on pills.
