Weather Service: Wet Weekend, Then Clear Skies For Holiday [1]

Thu, 11/08/2012 - 10:42am  |  Perry Smith [2]

With a cold front moving in, Santa Clarita Valley residents should expect a wet weekend, according to National Weather Service officials.

However, the forecast for Veterans Day on Monday calls for breezy winds and a return to warmer temperatures, said Stuart Seto of the National Weather Service.

“We’re having unstable air coming up from the south -- that’s what turned into drizzle in the L.A. area,” Seto said. “What that means is that we’ll have wet and unsettled weather into Saturday (night).“

The rainfall will hit a quarter-inch in most areas and a third of an inch in areas that usually receive higher amounts, he said. Snow fall areas are expected to 3,500 feet in the weekend, but there’s not expected to be a lot of it.

And ahead of the holiday Monday, the weather should start to improve, he said.

“On Sunday, we’ll have high pressure starting to build, and breezy winds and warming temperatures,” he added.
