Two men died in separate motorcycle collisions in Saugus in the last 24 hours.The first happened Friday afternoon on San Francisquito Road a mile south of Lowridge Place.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Saugus resident Dean M. Lalley, 42, was driving a 1995 Kawasaki ZX900 northbound on San Francisquito Road at a speed greater than 55 MPH when he crossed the double yellow line directly into the path of a 2003 Toyota Sequoia, driven by 52-year old Linda J. Spunt, also of Saugus. Lalley’s motorcycle hit the front of Spunt’s car, causing him to be thrown from the vehicle to the dirt shoulder.
Lalley sustained fatal injuries as a result and was declared dead at the scene by L.A. County Fire personnel. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision, which is still under investigation.Shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday, a 25-year old male Hispanic was riding a motorcycle northbound on Osage Ridge Road at a high rate of speed and lost control near Mulberry Glen Drive. The motorcycle hit a mailbox, causing fatal injuries to the driver, whose identity has not yet been released.
