The Valencia track team broke four school records at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut over the weekend.
The boys 4x200 meter relay team won the high school seeded race and set the school record in 1 minute, 29.6 seconds.
The boys sprint medley relay team was third in its seeded race and set the school record in 3 minutes, 36.45 seconds.
The girls 4x200 relay team was third in the invitational race and set the school record in 1 minute, 44.67 seconds.
The girls distance relay team was ninth in the invitational race and set the school record in 12 minutes, 37 seconds.
Golden Valley’s Chelsey Totten was fifth in the girls 800 meter race in 2 minutes. 14.50 seconds.
West Ranch’s Ashley Welker was seventh in the 800 in 2 minutes, 15.45 seconds.
In high school softball, West Ranch won a game and tied another in the Santiago Spring Fling Tournament. The Wildcats opened the tournament with 5-5 tie against Vista Murrieta. Kylie Sorenson drove in four runs and had three hits.
West Ranch followed with a 7-6 win over Carson. Wildcats starter Bailey Foster struck out four and gave up no hits in 3 2/3 innings.
The Canyon softball team split a pair of games in the Valley Classic at Birmingham High.
Canyon shut out Harvard-Westlake, 7-0, in the first game and lost to Burroughs, 6-4, in the second game.
Courtney Ziese hit a two-run home run and had two hits against Harvard-Westlake. Kaelie Doyle drove in three runs.
Hayley Bottino hit a two-run home run and pitched six shut-out innings in the game against Burroughs.
The Trinity softball team split a doubleheader against Avalon. The Knights won the first game, 4-3, and lost the second game, 20-13.
In hockey, the Kings advanced to the second round of the NHL Western Conference playoffs and eliminated the top-seeded Vancouver Canucks in five games.
Jarrett Stoll scored the winning goal in overtime to give the Kings a 2-1 win in Game 5 of the first round of the playoffs.
The Kings will face the St. Louis Blues in the second round.
