COC Softball Team Sweeps Glendale College [1]

khts_sportsThe College of the Canyons softball team swept a doubleheader with Glendale College. The Cougars won the first game, 6-2, and the nightcap, 8-7.

Jenny Wunderlich had two hits and scored twice in the first game for COC.

Adriana Correra drove in the winning run with a double in the sixth inning for COC in the second game.

COC improved to 9-2 in the Western State Conference and is 3-0 against second-place Glendale College.

In high school baseball, Golden Valley shut out Desert Hot Springs, 9-0, in the Coachella Valley tournament.

Hart lost to Santa Margarita, 7-5, in the Anaheim Canyon Tournament.

Saugus split a pair of games in the La Palma Kennedy tournament. The Centurions beat host La Palma Kennedy, 5-1, but lost to Mission Viejo, 8-4.

JSerra shutout West Ranch, 1-0, in the La Palmda Kennedy tournament. Canyon lost to Sunny Hills, 8-7.

In high school ice hockey, Saugus beat Canyon, 7-1, to stay undefeated after three games at the Ice Station Valencia.

Defenseman Dillon Thomas scored two goals and had an assist for Saugus.

The Northerners beat Valencia, 4-2, handing the reigning Ice Station High School Hockey League champs their third loss in a row.

The Northerners scored twice in the third period and improved to 3-0, tied for first place with Saugus.

Hart lost to West Valley, 8-2. Hart’s Joey Cicoria scored a goal in his first game with the Indians.

Alex Kocoglu had a hat trick for West Valley.

Bakersfield shut out Burbank, 8-0.

In college baseball, The Master’s College swept a doubleheader against La Sierra, winning both games, 8-1. Chris Talley was 2-for-4 with a triple and drove in two runs in the first game.

Tanner Leighton, Joe Riddle and Spencer Toth each hit two-run home runs for The Master’s College in the second game.

The Dodgers won Game 2 of the Freeway Series, 4-1, over the Angels at Dodger Stadium.

Dodgers starter Aaron Harang gave up only one hit in four shut-out innings. Justin Sellers capped a three-run sixth inning with an RBI single.

The third and final game of the Freeway Series is today at noon at Dodger Stadium.
