Outfitting a baby nursery can be an expensive proposition. There is the changing table, crib, rocker and night stand, maybe a bookshelf. We of course want the best for our children and get caught up in the emotion of it all, often overlooking practicality for what we want right now!
Ideally, I select for my client’s baby nursery pieces that will grow with the child. Pieces that offer much better value and longevity are the way to go. There are so many items to spend your hard-earned money on once the baby arrives, that busting your budget on furniture that only lasts one or two years is ill-advised, and unnecessary with proper planning.
Here are some items that will grow with your baby, and offer longevity and durability.
1. A three in one crib will function as an infant bed, transition to a toddler’s daybed and later convert into a full size bed as your child grows.
2. Choose a wood dresser with a custom cushion on top to serve as a changing table for the early years. Simply remove the cushion and replace with a lamp and accessories once the toddler is out of diapers. Some dressers offer a hutch for holding books and storage.
3. Select a night stand that will grow with the child. Avoid buying soft baby blue, pink or yellow painted furniture, which looks so cute until the baby grows, and you really want a wood finish to the furniture.
Selecting paint colors, bedding and furnishings for a nursery or child’s room can be overwhelming. There are so many products to choose from. Help is on the way! Call Tami Smight today for your design consultation.
