The Saugus girls volleyball team finished in a tie for sixth place in the highly competitive Redondo Power Classic over the weekend.
Saugus reached the quarterfinals of the two-day, 32-team tournament, but lost to top-seeded St. Lucy’s in three sets.
The Centurions followed the setback against St. Lucy’s with another tough, two-point, loss to host Redondo Union.
Jaclyn Clark was selected to the all-tournament team. She had 28 kills and 23 digs in seven games in the tournament.
Centennial of Bakersfield won the Redondo Power Classic championship match.
The Hart girls volleyball team finished in fifth place in the Crescenta Valley tournament, downing Burroughs of Burbank.
Hart went undefeated in pool play, but lost its first round playoff match to Alta Loma. The Indians rebounded to win its next two matches over the Crescenta Valley Blue team and Burroughs.
In high school football, Hart moved up to No. 4 in the Southern Section Northern Division poll after upsetting Valencia, 19-14, on Friday night.
Valencia, meanwhile, dropped to No. 5 after losing to Hart, its first Foothill League loss in nearly three seasons.
Canyon squeaked past West Ranch, 13-7, and comes in at No. 6 in the Northern Division poll.
Westlake, undefeated at 8-0, remains as the No. 1 team in the Northern Division.
In college volleyball, The Master’s College women won a marathon match in five games over Point Loma University. Samantha Dougherty had 13 kills and 18 digs for The Master’s College.
In college soccer, The Master’s College women beat San Diego Christian, 4-1, scoring three goals in the first half.
Katie Trevino scored two goals and had an assist for The Master’s College. Teammate Jessica Long also scored two goals.
The Master’s College men lost to San Diego Christian, 2-1. Marcello Silva gave The Master’s College a 1-0 lead in the first half with a goal in the 25th minute.
