With the sound of royal wedding bells still resonating from earlier this year, the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital Guild prepares for its 27th Annual Fashion Show on Sunday, October 23.
The show is titled “A Royal Fashion Show” and according to fashion show organizers, this year’s theme was inspired by the recent royal wedding in Great Britain.
Since the creation of the Guild in 1984, the fashion show has been an annual event.
Carin Holmenas, of Carin Holmenas Productions, will professionally produce this year’s show complete with professional models and a full-size runway.

All of the proceeds collected by the Guild will go towards helping ensure that Henry Mayo’s laboratory services has the technology and the equipment to provide the community with access to exceptional medical care.
Past fashion shows have also benefited different sections of the hospital including the emergency room, medical and surgical units and the cardiac catheterization lab.
Since its inception in 1984, the Guild has raised more than $1 million, most of which came from the fashion shows, with 5 to 10 thousand dollars coming in annually from the Silver Rose Debutante program, also run by the Guild.
According to Shelley Hahn, Chair of the show, the event was started by the Guild as a fundraiser, and while the net income tends to fluctuate, as much as $50 thousand has been raised at a single event in the past.
Hahn encourages all attendees to wear their “prettiest hats” for the event to help establish the day’s royal theme.
Tickets cost $90 per person and include entry to the specialty boutique, lunch, and a glamorous fashion show. The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sheraton Universal Hotel, 333 Universal Hollywood Drive, Universal City.
