Canyon High graduate Greg Pursley continued his dream season in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West. He won the NASCAR West Series race at Evergreen Speedway in Washington and extended his lead in the West Series standings.
He has won six of the eight races this season and is running away with the West Series championship.
He won the pole and led the last 11 laps of the race in Washington. He has a 298-point lead in the West Series standings after eight races.
RJ Johnson of Canyon Country won the NASCAR Super Late Models race at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale and took over the lead in the Super Late Models standings at the track. He has won four of the five races this season.
Gerrit Cormsigt of Saugus won the Super Stocks race, but Rich De Long III of Santa Clarita finished second and leads the Super Stocks standings.
In the Firestone Indy Lights series, Duarte Ferreira, driving for Bryan Herta Autosport, finished ninth in the Toronto 100. Teammate Bruno Andrade, making his series debut, was 10th. Stefan Wilson won the race.

In baseball, the Angels completed the sweep of the visiting Mariners, 4-2, and won their fourth game in a row. The Angels head into the All-Star break with an 8-2 record over their last 10 games.
The Rangers shut out the A’s, 2-0, the Blue Jays beat the Indians, 7-1, the Yankees blanked the Rays, 1-0, the Red Sox beat the Orioles, 8-6, the Twins beat the White Sox, 6-3, and the Tigers beat the Royals, 2-1.
In the National League, the Giants beat the Mets, 4-2, the Nationals shut out the Rockies, 2-0, and the Cardinals beat the Diamondbacks, 4-2.
The Marlins beat the Astros, 5-4, the Phillies beat the Braves, 14-1, the Pirates beat the Cubs, 9-1, and the Brewers beat the Reds, 4-3.
