Name Game For Castaic Begins [1]

Tue, 04/12/2011 - 9:00pm  |  Mark Archuleta [2]

hartdistlogoBLACKDo you know of someone who deserves the honor of having a school named for them? While plans for construction of the new Castaic high school are progressing the William S. Hart District school board will begin discussions on naming the new facility at their meeting Wednesday night.

Officials say there is specific board policy for naming district facilities. In order to be considered individuals, living or deceased, must have made outstanding contributions to the county, community, state, or on a national or worldwide scale.

If the school isn’t named after a person the geographic area where the school resides could serve as inspiration. Or the name could simply come from the community that the school will serve.

The Board encourages community participation in selecting names.

In the meantime, the Environmental Impact Report is in the process of being readied for review and will be circulated in June.
