The Master's College women's basketball team upset No.14 Westmont, 85-76, behind 25 points from Jenna Reed. The Master's College women have won two games in a row six of their last seven.
Erica Inge added 19 points in her team's win over Westmont, the 14th-ranked team in the NAIA.
The Master's College men lost, 72-71, to No. 22 Westmont after rallying in the second half. Joey Fuca scored a team-high 16 points.
In high school basketball, the Golden Valley boys beat Cleveland, 65-62, in the To The Rack Classic at Oaks Christian High School. Trevor Wiseman scored a team-high 15 points for Golden Valley.
The Valencia boys got a career-best 22 points from Stevie Sansone in a 74-30 win over Mission Prep. Lonnie Jackson scored 15 points for Valencia.
The Vasquez girls beat Heritage College Academy, 38-11. McKenna Garrick scored a team-high 11 points and had 10 rebounds for Vasquez.
In high school soccer, the Santa Clarita Christian girls beat Hillcrest Christian, 9-0. Kayla Gale, Jennifer Fullarton and Joanna Masopust each scored two goals. Gale recorded the 75th goal of her high school career. Madison Utley, Megan Gallagher and Amanda Doty each scored a goal in the win.
USC football coach Pete Carroll is headed to the NFL according to numerous reports from ESPN and the Associated Press. He is reportedly going to coach the Seattle Seahawks. Carroll led the USC Trojans football team to seven Pac-10 championships and two national titles.
He previously coached in the NFL with the New England Patriots from 1997 to 1999 and the New York Jets in 1994.
The Lakers cruised to a 95-77 win over the visiting Milwaukee Bucks despite another off-shooting night for Kobe Bryant. He scored only 12 points on 4 of 21 shooting. Andrew Bynum led the Lakers with 17 points and 18 rebounds.
The Clippers beat the Miami Heat, 94-84, and won the sixth straight game at home. Chris Kaman had 22 points and 14 rebounds for the Clippers.
In the NFL playoffs, the Cardinals, Ravens, Cowboys and Jets moved on to the next round.
The Cardinals beat the Packers, 51-45. In a game that saw Cardinals and Packers score the most points in NFL playoff history, it was a clutch defensive play -- an interception return for a touchdown in overtime -- that decided the game.
The Ravens knocked out the perennial Super Bowl favorite New England Patriots, 33-14. The Cowboys won their first playoff game with quarterback Tony Romo, 34-14 over the Eagles. The Jets, led by former USC quarterback Mark Sanchez, slipped past the Carson Palmer led Bengals, 24-14.
In hockey, the first-place Sharks are in town for a game against the Kings at Staples Center. The last time the two teams met, the Kings won, 6-2, in San Jose. But the Kings have lost their last two games in a row. Pregame starts at 7 on AM 1220, KHTS.
