Newly published off-street routes reflect changes since 2006
The City of Santa Clarita launched a new and updated online trail map, now available at the City's Trails website at santa-clarita.com/trails . Residents can view the map, which allows users to zoom and scroll throughout the City's extensive trail system and print desired views.
The new trails map, prepared using the latest Geographic Information Systems software, is true to scale and the most accurate City trail map to date. It includes more than 45 miles of existing Class I, II, & III bike routes, as well as multi-purpose and proposed trails. Proposed trails are strategically planned to complete the City's trails system and link to other trail systems beyond the Santa Clarita Valley. The online map also includes locations of trailheads, paseos, Metrolink stations, parks, and numerous other places of interest.
"Planning and developing trails has long been a priority of the City of Santa Clarita and significant changes have been made to the City's trail system since the previous map was published in 2006," said Mayor Frank Ferry. "The new map provides an accurate and comprehensive view of the City's extensive trail system to assist residents in planning trips now and into the future."
The City of Santa Clarita features more than 30 miles of off-street trails for residents to enjoy for commuting and recreational use, including walking, riding, jogging, and skating. A large portion of the City's trail system runs parallel to the Santa Clara river trail. Together with connecting trails, residents can access parks, entertainment, shopping, and employment centers.
