Entrepreneur. The word conjures images of ingenuity, innovation, and independence, but also of daunting risk and responsibility. Being your own boss can be very rewarding both for an individual and society as a whole, but starting off can feel a bit like performing a high-wire act without a net.
Luckily, the Small Business Development Center at College of the Canyons is here to help, with its Young Entrepreneur Program (YEP), which seeks to provide Junior High to college-age youth with the tools, experience, and inspiration to launch and manage successful small businesses.
Throughout the summer and into the fall, YEP will host a series of interactive seminars and events during which attendees will learn important business skills like money management and networking as well as how to develop and market their own ideas.
The free, grant funded program kicks off Saturday, June 13, with a session titled "What's an Entrepreneur?" from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at 28640 Ave. Stanford, Suite 100.
