Assemblyman Steve Knight was appointed Wednesday to the Assembly Select Committee on Aerospace, a panel tasked with reviewing and promoting legislative measures benefiting the aerospace industry in California.
The defense and aerospace industries provide more than 100,000 jobs for the state and High Desert region. Born at Edwards Air Force Base and the son of Air Force and aerospace pioneer, former Senator William “Pete” Knight, Assemblyman Knight brings a unique perspective and his passion to this select committee.
“Obviously, aerospace and our military have a special place in my heart,” said Knight. "It is an honor and will be natural for me to contribute toward the goals of this committee."
Knight is also the Vice Chair of the Assembly Committee on Local Government and he is a member of the Natural Resources and Accountability & Administrative Review Committees.
“The High Desert is an integral part of our nation’s defense and aerospace dominance,” Knight said. “Having a voice in developing meaningful policy that facilitates California’s contributions is an absolute necessity, and I will do my utmost to make that voice heard.”
The number of jobs in the aerospace and defense contracting industries is inextricably linked to a favorable business climate. Since taking office, Knight has introduced two measures to provide incentives to California businesses in an effort to create more jobs and stimulate the economy.
