Everyone gets the chance to step in a Principal's shoes.
For many, the exact job description of a School Principal remains a mystery, and with films such as "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" depicting principals as power-hungry, narcissistic, student-haters, there is not much of a desire to seek the truth.
Enter the Santa Clarita Education Foundation. Since December, they have been accepting applications for "Lend A Hand and Be a Principal For a Day," a hands-on immersion program for prospective principals and curious contemplators.
On January 23, each applicant will spend the day with their chosen school administrators at the specified school, and will learn about today's education and the multiple roles school leaders play.
From 11:30 to 1:00 p.m. the participants will enjoy a special luncheon to honor the Principals for a day, and Principals every day.
The mission of Principal for a Day is to "develop an understanding of the rewards and challenges of education today and to promote a relationship between education and businesses."
