Event enters its 21st year, public invited.
On Saturday, November 8th from 7
a.m. – 11 a.m. at Placerita
Junior High School, the Santa
Clarita Valley Family YMCA will be hosting their 21st Annual Pancake Breakfast
benefiting the local YMCA.
“Every year, YMCA Y-Guides participants host an annual
Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser which serves over 500 people with pancakes,
sausages, bagels and drinks,” said Jane S. Albin, Executive Director of the
Santa Clarita Valley Family YMCA. “This fundraising event benefits the
Y-Guides program and provides financial assistance to families who are in need
of scholarships and other assistance to the program. Tickets are on sale
for $3 at the YMCA, or are $5 the day of the event.”
Y-Guides are small groups of parent-child pairs who meet on
a consistent basis. Activities such as campouts, events, crafts, outings and
volunteering in the community are planned for these group meetings.
Y-Guides recently participated in the 4th of July Parade, Santa Clarita Marathon,
Make a Difference Day, River Cleanup and other community volunteer roles.
The YMCA says that the Y-Guides provide parent-child pairs
the opportunity to come together to strengthen their relationship through
activities that are challenging and enjoyable. The idea is that the parents
guide their children through a wide array of experiences aimed at helping
children reach their full potential. And parents grow as well, building a
bond with their children that will last a lifetime. The leadership skills
they acquire and the friends that they make create lasting memories.
