Man Struck By Car In Crosswalk [1]

Early morning accident leaves pedestrian in hospital.

 

Just before 7:00 this morning, a seventy six year old Newhall man was crossing Sierra Highway near Whispering Leaves Way. According to eyewitnesses, Charlie Wang was using a marked crosswalk to traverse the road when a car driven by Palmdale resident Blanca Ayala reportedly ran a red light and struck him.

 

He was transported to Henry May hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.

 

The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station's Traffic Unit is still investigating.  Anyone who may have witnessed this incident should contact Detective Maag of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station at (661) 799-5112.
