Dr. Luisa Rebull of the Spitzer Science Center to speak.
The Local Group, a nonprofit group dedicated to studying the stars above, will host a lecture meeting on April 19 featuring Dr. Luisa Rebull, a research scientist from Caltech who works at the Spitzer Science Center.
The Spitzer Space Telecope, NASA's fourth "Great Observatory", has been running like a 'dream machine' since 2003. By observing in the infrared, it can penetrate gas and dust, including the cocoons of natal material surrounding very young stars, revealing previously hidden populations of young stars and helping us to understand how stars form, including stars like our Sun.
Attendance is free and light refreshments will be available. Note a new location for the meeting: Keller Williams VIP Properties, 25124 Springfield Court, Suite 100, Valencia. Springfield Court is just off of Tourney, north of Valencia Blvd. near College of the Canyons. The Local Group’s banner will be outside the building on the left side of the parking lot.
