New outdoor center to host a multitude of new shops and eateries.
Saturday afternoon was one of celebration for Westfield Valencia Town Center and eager shoppers alike. Ground was broken on “The Patios,” a newly planned upscale Lifestyle Center that will be built on the TownCenter property.
The new center will bring in some of the most highly requested stores and restaurants, with Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, the Cheesecake Factory, PF Chang's, Coach, Sephora, California Pizza Kitchen, bebe, Kate Spade, and a larger Macys all proposed. Two additional parking structures will be built to accommodate shoppers.
The Patios are scheduled to open sometime between the spring and the fall of 2009, where it will bring 40 new stores along with lush landscaping, water features, fireplaces and elegant patios.
The Patios will provide an estimated $1 million in new sales tax revenue for the City, which not only means funding for City services, but also work for residents. "We're going to have 500 construction jobs, and probably over 500 permanent jobs," said Larry Green, VP of Development for Westfield.
The Town Center was first planned and built by Newhall Land, and it was specifically designed to host expansion. "It started back in 1965 when Valencia first got designed by Victor Gruen, "Said Marlee Lauffer of Newhall Land. "He always envisioned that this intersection that's formed by three of our main streets would someday be the home to a regional shopping mall...and not just a mall, but a whole downtown area."
