Alert residents give tip to Sheriff’s
Deputies apprehended two suspected car burglars early Monday morning near Valencia Glen Park, Valencia. The deputies responded to a call from an alert resident who had reportedly seen two men entering into parked cars on Via Chantilly.
The first deputy on scene broadcast the suspect’s information to other responding deputies. Two other deputies were checking the area and spotted two suspects, who matched the description of the burglars, walking near the park. The deputies saw that the suspects were holding several items. As the deputies attempted to detain the suspects, the two men dropped the items they were carrying and ran.
The deputies gave chase on foot and set up a containment of the area. A short time later both suspects were located hiding under a car in the 23600 block of Mill Valley Road.
One of the suspects again attempted to run, but was quickly taken into custody. The second suspect was taken into custody without incident. Several stolen items were recovered. The deputies discovered ransacked cars on Via Chantilly and Mill Valley Road. They contacted residents who identified their property and confirmed their cars had been broken into.
The deputies were able to return many of the stolen items to their rightful owners. Both suspects were booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station.
The first suspect, MB/25, of Lake Elsinore faces felony Burglary charges and a misdemeanor charge of Resisting Arrest. He also had a warrant for Theft and is being held in lieu of $70,000 bail pending future court proceedings.
The second suspect, MW/21, of Valencia faces felony Burglary charges and a misdemeanor charge of Resisting Arrest. He is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail pending future court proceedings.
