Local hotels ranked 2nd most filled in LA county
According to the latest Trends report by PKF Consulting, Santa Clarita posted the second highest occupancy rate in the Los Angeles area for April 2007 at 83.22 percent. Santa Clarita’s numbers were just slightly below Hollywood, which posted an average occupancy of 83.52 for the month, but ahead of top destinations such as West Hollywood at 81.16, Santa Monica at 80.62 percent, and Los Angeles International Airport at 78.15 percent.
April proved to be a busy month for the Santa Clarita Valley with continued business travel, as well as the 14th Annual Cowboy Festival, which took place April 25-29 and attracted more than 8,000 people from around the world. Additionally, spring break visitors helped to keep Santa Clarita’s hotel properties full for the month.
“April is traditionally the start of Santa Clarita’s high season and that’s evident in these numbers,” commented City of Santa Clarita Mayor Marsha McLean. “We set the pace this spring for what we hope will be another busy high season.”
In the last year, two new hotel properties have opened in the Santa Clarita Valley. The properties include the La Quinta Inn & Suites in Stevenson Ranch, which features 112 rooms, and the Courtyard by Marriott in Santa Clarita, which features 140 rooms. Despite the addition of these rooms to the Valley’s offerings, hotel occupancy rates continue to hold steady and increase, proving that Santa Clarita is one of the Los Angeles area’s leading destinations.
“We’re looking forward to another strong summer season and expect that our occupancy rate will continue to be one of the highest in the Los Angeles area,” added McLean.
Just 25 minutes north of Los Angeles, Santa Clarita rests in a valley created by the confluence of the Santa Susana, San Gabriel and Tehachapi mountains.
Comprising an area of 55 square miles at an average elevation of 1,200 feet, the City enjoys a mild temperate climate with an average high of 77 degrees.
Home to Six Flags Magic California, Santa Clarita also boasts several world-class golf courses, a beautiful Town Center Drive complete with specialty boutiques and eateries and historic points of interest like the William S. HartMuseum, Melody Ranch Motion Picture Museum and Mentryville.
The destination is comprised of four distinctive communities, which include Canyon Country, Newhall, Saugus and Valencia, and is only minutes from nearby Castaic, Fillmore, Oxnard, San Fernando and Ventura.
