The Hometowns Heroes Recognition Breakfast will be held on September 11, 2007 at the Hyatt. This yearly event honors those who have gone above and beyond in the community including an Animal category. Ballots were available for people to nominate their Hometown Hero. The winners will be announced at the Breakfast.
The Santa Clarita chapter has assisted in many disasters such as the Northridge Earthquake and most recently, they coordinated efforts with other Los Angeles chapters to assist millions of people affected by Hurricane Katrina - one of the worst natural disasters in modern times.
For nearly a century, the American Red Cross has prepared people to save lives through health and safety education and training. From first aid and CPR training to swimming and lifeguard instruction, American Red Cross Preparedness programs help people lead safer and healthier lives. The Red Cross constantly strives to respond to the preparedness concerns of Americans at home, in school and in the workplace.
The American Red Cross is led by volunteers and does not receive government assistance. They are always standing by and ready to provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.

We want to thank Mike Jaffe, John Ku, Fantasia Fairchild and Marjorie Iacovetti from the Santa Clarita chapter of the American Red Cross for spending time with us at the KHTS Community Resource Station.
