Total Financial Solutions Safer Money Hour With Arif Halaby - Tuesday April 16, 2013
Host Arif Halaby opens the show by presenting some of the pros and cons to take into consideration when using a debit card instead of cash when making purchases.
Aside from the more obvious emotional detachment in using debit for cash, there is liability and the exchange of information with merchants that needs to be considered.
Arif discusses with co-host Jeff Girard the similarities and differences between cash, prepaid debit cards, and credit cards.
Commenting on the use of giving your son or daughter a debit card, Arif says, “some prepaid debit cards allow you to restrict what your child purchases, such as alcohol or tobacco.”
“When you give your kids allowance for just existing, it’s one of the worst things that you can do...they don’t equate reward with effort.”
The hour wraps up with Arif and Jeff giving some solutions when deciding on what choices to make when you decide to use your bank debit card.
With the time of year for travel and vacationing approaching, hosts Arif Halaby and co-host Jeff Girard discuss things to think about when planning your travel finances in the second hour of the show.
Preparation with your bank can help you from losing money due to currency exchange rates and fees upon arrival in a foreign country.
Arif points out that, “there’s only one credit card company that doesn’t charge an exchange rate fee.”
