Tips and Tricks when looking for student loans…
Arif Halaby joined by Jeff Girard come on the air this week to talk about tips and tricks and some things to consider when looking into getting student loans for you or your children.
There are two types of student loans. With a subsidized loan the federal government will pay off the interest while you are in school. With an unsubsidized loan, the loan is deferred, but the interest constantly adds up.
Studies have shown that an individual with a bachelors degree will make two million dollars more in their lifetime than if they only obtained a high school diploma.
On sending your child off to a four year university, Arif says,“you’re committing to something, you need to do your homework!”
A good majority, if not all, of your general education classes can be taken at a two year community college, like College of the Canyons, for a much smaller cost than if the same classes were taken at a four year university.
On the amount of loans to take on to pay for your schooling, Arif says, “the smallest amount of poison you drink the better.”
A lot of people aren’t taking advantage of the many federal and state loans, scholarships, and grants that are available out there.
