            Welcome to The Real Side, not the right side, not the wrong side, but The Real Side.  I am your host Joe Messina, right here on your Home Town Station, AM 1220 KHTS.  Today is faith Friday so at the bottom of the hour we are bringing in Gallup Editor – in – Chief and author of “God is Alive and Well, the Future of Religion in America” Frank Newport to talk about how God is involved on today’s world. 

            Frank Newport, Ph.D., is Gallup’s Editor in Chief and the immediate past president of the American Association for Public Opinion Research. Gallup has monitored American public opinion continuously since 1935 and now conducts more than 350,000 interviews with Americans each year; Gallup also conducts ongoing interviews in more than 150 countries worldwide.

            VCLJ, they had to protect the right for a third grader to wear a cross to school.  I think this goes a little bit too far. It is just a child wearing a symbol of his faith, because it is too nasty.  This kid has been scolded by his teacher and his principle for expressing himself.  We can not have this in his country. This stuff just sends me right through the roof.  They have required him to hide the cross under his shirt.  The principal says that he makes all students hide religious symbols as to not offend other students.  The school has been told to allow the student to continue wearing his cross without being scolded.  It is amazing that we have to fight these things. 

            When we come back from the break, I want to talk about the college that shut down a dorm room bible study.  I also want to talk about that bachelor who has to explain his decision to be celibate.
