Coming up this Thursday is the National Day of Prayer. Joe has taken heat for organizing a Prayer Breakfast in his community because of a speaker that has been chosen to headline the event. The speaker, Brad Dacus, has been called about as homophobic and anti-gay. Joe brings on Pastor Gilbert Burns from SantaClaritaChristianCenter on to talk about the Biblical basis for Dacus’ beliefs.
About the guest: Pastor Gilbert Burns is the founding Pastor of Santa Clarita Christian Center, and has over thirty years of experience studying and teaching the uncompromising Word of God. Against great odds, Pastor Burns overcame a childhood of adversity, surrounded by gangs and drug abuse. In 2004, Pastor Burns was called to start his own ministry in the Santa Clarita Valley, with a mission to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a practical way for everyday use. SantaClaritaChristianCenter began in a house with eight members and one dog, and quickly began to grow. Pastor’s straightforward approach is devoted to equipping families with information to enhance relationships, allow for a stronger economical position, and promote fruitful relations with others. Pastor Burns has been a certified Tae Bo instructor for 6 years, certified by Billy Blanks, and now teaches a Living Fit Cardio Kickboxing class. Pastor offers complimentary classes twice a week as part of his mission for “spirit, soul and body.” Pastor Burns lives in Santa Clarita, California with his beautiful wife of 27 years and his children, Gilbert Jr, 27, Felicia 24, Ashlen 17, and niece Miranda 14.
