Life Leadership with Alex Urbina – June 24, 2013
On today’s show Alex and Wendy discuss what is poetic parenting and parenting in general.
When we are parents our kids are looking for more than just food and clothing but also feeding their souls and more than just the surface.
“I wasn’t aware or conscious parenting until later in life,” Alex said.
Poetic parenting is a sweet way to encourage parents to practice good intention of parenting for those who had trouble early on.
Poetic parenting infuses poetry and psychology to better your parenting skills, Wohlmuth said.
“If it takes a book or show, then that is great people learn in different ways,” Alex said. “I am all for different learning styles.”
Through poetry you can break down different styles of parenting in a new way that expresses both sides to the story of life and situations.
When I hear that but poetry it really hits me on how early on we have to be conscious about parenting, because our children are looking to us to grow and we are their most contact to the human experience, Alex said.
Their first two years are important to bond, because they are the center of the universe and they might not remember that trip to the zoo but that bonding will carry over, Wendy said.
At around age 2, the child develops locomotion and you need to begin to shift, because the child begins to hear the word “No.”
If you are letting your child to turn no into yes you are teaching tantrums and manipulation, Wohlmuth said.
