Life Leadership with Alex Urbina – June 17, 2013
On today’s show Alex and Wendy discuss some of the words and tools that they say throughout their training sessions and in life.
A common phrase I use is, “it is what it is.” What does that mean to you Wendy?, Alex said.
To me it means that whatever happens is what is going to happen. It comes from a place where you do not have control but you do and people have to realize that you have full control of your life.
When for example you get laid off or fire you can choose to be filled with outrage or stew over it and see the positive, People say that often, “let me stew or think about it for a while.”
People need to take a step back and look at the situation from different angles. “That is what I do, especially when I am online and shopping the first instinct is to buy something, but I have to step back and ask if I need it,” Wendy said.
Another one is “so what, now what.” Some of my clients get mad or angry when I say so what, now what. But it is more of a neutral place and saying so what you got this far and now the question is now what.
We take a lot of responsibility but often times we forget the good stuff. The point is to focus on what’s next, the new moment, do not be stuck in the past.
