Friday matinee with Paul Strickland airs on AM-1220 KHTS every Friday from 12-1 pm
Welcome to Friday Matinee right here on your home town station, AM 1220 KHTS. I am Paul Strickland your Host, this is the show that is all about the arts in Santa Clarita. We have a great guest today, Louis Bertard. Louis has no training in art. They would say, if you want to grow a bird, then grow an egg first. Now think about a tree. If you want to start a tree, you start from the roots. That is how a tree grows. As far as training, I have none at all. I just paint how I feel. My colors are very vivid, is someone sees two of my paintings they could recognize it as a Bertard. I draw for my feelings, if people like it that is grate, if they do not then the do not.
I paint for me, it help me clear my mind. To be able to create some thing, that is my life. There are three things that keep me alive, forget the medications and the doctors. First is my daughter Jeanne, the second is my grandson and the third is my art. Right now I am unable to paint, because we moved and I can not get to my regular painting supplies, so lately I have to resort to sketches.
Some of these sketches will be framed and sold, the others are modles for paintings.

I like how you say your painting is just for yourself. I had a room mate who would paint all day and all night, and it was difficult for him to show it to other people because he loved it so much.
We will take a quick commercial brake, and we will be right back, this is Friday Matinee on your Home Town Station, AM 1220 KHTS.
Loui, I know that you are a citizen of the United states since 1961, and you say you are a formal primitive with no training. You say your work is recognizable right? They recognize it because of the colors. If you have a certain value of blue and the same value of green, people do not believe in it. I have some drawings that I combine blue and green with fantastic effect.
I want to ask you about your Camelot painting. Click the link above to listen to the rest of the show.
