Friday matinee with Paul Strickland airs on AM-1220 KHTS every Friday from 12-1 pm

            Welcome to Friday Matinee I am your host, Paul Strickland.  On your Home Town Station, AM 1220 KHTS.

            This show is all about the arts in Santa Clarita.  There are so many unique things going on at the College of the Canyons.  our first guest is Paul Wickline.  So what is happening over at COC?

            Well, we start classes next week, which means we start auditions. We are looking for about thirty actors in three different projects.  We are looking for actors any age between teenagers to late fifties and sixties, we try to stay away from ageism. 

            We have a wide range of listeners in the interested in the arts.  So tell me about the rolls and the projects

            Suburbia, we need nine rolls, five men, four women.  We really need to find two actors of Middle Eastern, Pakistani, Indian decent for the roll of 7/11 owners in that production.  Actors mostly in their twenties in that

            In lend me a tenor we are looking for actors in a range from late teens to late fifties or so, we need a wide variety for that one.  If you do not know the play I would love to talk to you about it.  I am also directing that one, so I may be slightly biased about which play would be more fun to be in.  We are looking for four men and four women.  We also need a character that can sing or fake sing in an operatic style. 

            Paul, how much of a commitment is this. Suburbia is about five or six weeks, lend me a tenor is about seven weeks in rehearsal, it is a little more of a commitment.  And remember it is a class, and it is a class like environment. 

            Can you remind us of the dates?  Absolutely, auditions are next Tuesday and Wednesday, at about 6:45 PM both nights in the black box theater, we are auditioning for both plays, and these are like the preliminaries before the call backs.  Because of the new construction at College of the canyons, parking may be a struggle so get there early.  Please go to the website and type in COC theater.
