Families in Action – Monday, July, 8, 2013
Cary and Bob filled the room with a unique mixture of guests for today’s show. They began with a quick discussion of their most recent tragedies and triumphs – the daily lives of Bob and Cary are centered around saving kids who are close to jail or death. Their first guest Bryan spoke about his life’s quest to reach sobriety. Bryan actually met Cary at a very young age around 13 when he first started recovery, and excelled at it too. However, after a few years he abandoned Cary and Action, and was soon incarcerated for over ten years. Now that he is a free man, missing over a decade from his life – he wants to warn our community of how easy it is to fall into a life of crime and drugs, and it only leads to death. Either death from overdose, violence or in a jail cell. The horror stories he endured are nothing short of terrifying. Contrastingly, Cary’s next guest is 17 and just finished recovery from heroin and is looking forward to a life clean. Her journey, while also very scary, led to sobriety much earlier than Bryan’s. Emilee began smoking marijuana at a very early age, and by 14 she was smoking heroin. It wasn’t long before she was running away from home and living with strangers on drugs. Thankfully, she has a mother who wouldn’t give up on her, and literally tricked her into going into rehab, and once even sent her all the way to Utah to live in a sober environment. Cary and Bob are both proud of their guests today for overcoming their hardships, and continue to guide them towards a better future.
