Families in Action with Cary Quashen air on AM-1220 KHTS Mondays from 12pm-1pm.
Welcome to Families in Action on your home town station AM 1220 KHTS, and also brought to you by Action Family Counseling and the Action Parent and Teen Support Program. The Action Family Counseling is a full service rehabilitation center. We serve a population of 12 to as old as we can get. We also have Action a parent teen support program at Canyon High School in the Double A building every Tuesday night from Seven to nine. It is a support program where parents and teens come together and work out problems like low self esteem, school, defiance, substance abuse and so on. We also have the good fortune of meeting at Hart High school in the library for Spanish speaking families. This meets Tuesday night as well. I would like to thank the Hart district for letting us meet at their campuses.

We are very happy because we also have something new that we have been doing for the past few weeks, on Thursday nights from six thirty to eight thirty we have action family support at the Canyon Country Community Center on sierra highway and flying tiger lane on the corner, just off the 14 freeway onramp. Thank you to the city of Santa Clarita for letting us use that space. We had about fifteen people showing up this last Thursday, and the reason we have left it open from calling it Parent Teen Support because we have a lot of people in the transitional ages, who are not parents, teens. They also need help if they experience problems in their household. However if you are in parent teen and you need help on a Thursday night, please come on over.
Over the next six weeks or so we will be doing a series of families in action. Today’s program is going to be about prevention. It will go like this; prevention, intervention, treatment and recovery. This is really in the world of Chemical dependency and other issues that come along with it.
Prevention and prevention efforts is what we are going to talk about today, next week we are going to talk about intervention methods.
