Families in Action - February 11, 2013

Listen to all of Families in Action’s podcast’s here!

Families in Action with Cary Quashen air on AM-1220 KHTS Mondays from 12pm-1pm.

Welcome to Families in Action on your Home Town Station, AM 1220, KHTS.   This show is brought to you by Santa Clarita’s Home Town Station and Families in action which meets in twelve different locations.    The Action Family Counseling is a full service rehabilitation center.  We have Action a parent teen support program at Canyon High School in the Double A building every Tuesday night from Seven to nine.  It is a support program where parents and teens come together and work out problems like low self esteem, school, defiance, substance abuse and so on.  We also have the good fortune of meeting at Hart High school in the library for Spanish speaking families.  This meets Tuesday night as well.  I would like to thank the Hart district for letting us meet at their campuses.

And now, on Thursday nights from six thirty to eight thirty we have action family support at the Canyon Country Community Center on sierra highway and flying tiger lane on the corner, just off the 14 freeway onramp.  Thank you to the city of Santa Clarita for letting us use this space.  The reason we have left it open from calling it Parent Teen Support because we have a lot of people in the transitional ages, who are not parents, teens.  They also need help if they experience problems in their house hold.

It was a big week for us we had about Twenty Five new people show up to our meeting last Thursday.  We had an entire family come in and talk about wanting to put on an intervention for their brother.  There where six members of the Family there, and that was really cool.

So before we get into it, how was your weekend?  It was nice, I spent time with my kids and did not get a lot of phone calls. Normally it never stops, there are interventions and people in hospitals and lots of problems, but it was a quiet weekend.

So before we go on break, why don’t you tell what is happening on the show.  Today’s show is going to be focused on intervention.  Our guests are going to talk about their story, they are all in recovery and we would like to hear about their experience.
