It’s All About Gary Allegretto & Ian Espinoza

We take a conference call from two terrific musicians – Gary Allegretto and Ian Espinoza and we chat with them about – and play tracks from- their brand new CD release Allegretto/Espinoza.

Bobbi’s Introduction: “We are pleased to have two exceptional musicians with us today. American Cowboy Magazine says this about Singer/Songwriter and harmonica virtuoso Gary Allegretto ‘blows you away with his talent. You’ve never seen or heard anything like it.’  Guest Ian Espinoza is a Singer/Songwriter and a guitar virtuoso who’s often described as a ‘musician’s musician.’ Together these two peerless musicians create a memorable live performance, now captured on their new, just released in June 2013 CD, Allegretto/Espinoza. I’ll never forget the first time I saw Gary Allegretto in concert – it was an evening at the Coffee Gallery Backstage in Altadena and he shared the bill with Juni Fisher. He was mesmerizing, entertaining, and unforgettable. We’ve caught Gary with Ian several times – this duo is dynamic, engaging, and thoroughly entertaining. Welcome Gary and Ian to Around the Barn!”

Gary Allegretto is a top performer in Blues, Folk, and Western music. He shares with us a bit about the history of the harmonica and its connection to Blues music – and the connection between Blues and Western music – the roots run deep. Later, Mike asks about the connection between the harmonica and the accordion (very interesting!)

Gary introduces and shares the back stories of all the tracks we play (see play list below) including his original song, First Rodeo (Bobbi states that whenever she hears the phrase “This ain’t my first rodeo she’ll forever hear this song in her head!) and their unique rendition of the classic Along the Navajo Trail. (“Very cool, I like the Blues influence, you’ve taken a classic, traditional Western song and made it entirely your own” – says Bobbi)

Ian provides the back story to his original piece, Montana Stars. Inspired by the stories of reluctant men who stepped up to the position of lawmen in the west, Ian wrote this gorgeous soulful ballad and performs it as only Ian can.

This is an hour of memorable music with witty and enlightening conversation. Tune in for the whole show!
