It’s All About “You Reap What You Sow” and “Weird Tales Festival”
This week’s guests share what inspires them to create –for artist Trae Mundt it’s the colors and art forms found in nature – flowers, trees, the landscape. For filmmaker Ted Faye it’s the desert – Death Valley holds a particular fascination – its history, people, businesses, animals….and the “weird tales” shared by its explorers, prospectors, and inhabitants.

Trae Mundt is a local artist who enjoys capturing the natural world around her on canvas. She’s worked with many art mediums and canvas sizes – now is enjoying the challenging of painting large canvases – one of her largest is currently part of a new exhibit opening at OutWest this Thursday, Sept. 5. She shares the back story of this fabulous, lush painting – “A Glorious View” of a field of Golden Poppies turned to the sun, gently blowing in the morning breeze.

One of the curatorial team (along with artists Nadiya Littlewarrior and Donna Weil) that organized the art exhibit “You Reap What You Sow” opening at OutWest, Thursday, Sept. 5, Trae has played a major role behind the scenes. The exhibit is organized in two parts, Part I runs from Sept. 5 – Oct. 31 and opens at 6:00 p.m. with a Native American Blessing Ceremony led by Ted Garcia. The Artist Reception continues til 9:00 p.m.

Trae invites you to come discover how 17 local artists interpret the theme “You Reap What You Sow.” What does it mean to you? Bounty, harvest, abundance? Or…the reverse?

Call-In, and returning guest, Ted Faye is always an enthusiastic and fascinating guest. Author of the book The Twenty Mule Team of Death Valley and a documentarian,Ted’s ongoing exploration has “found gold in the desert in the form of strange, mysterious and often spooky stories, and will unveil his latest –The Desert’s Lost River of Gold –as the kickoff event of the Historical Society of the Upper Mojave Desert’s first annual Weird Tales Festival. Friday and Saturday, Sept. 27 and 28 in Ridgecrest California.

Along with Ted, other participants include renowned treasure hunter W.C. Jameson and California Paranormal Private Investigations. Activities include a treasure hunt, the showing of Faye’s cult classic The Ghosts of Death Valley Junctionas well as both a premiere and public showing of his newest in the series, The Desert’s Lost River of Gold.
