Los Angeles-based post-punk alt-rock trio Shine So Hard lights up the Santa Clarita airwaves on the next all-new edition of “House Blend,” the WAVE award-nominated music-and-interview program on SCVTV hosted by veteran music journalist Stephen K. Peeples, debuting Saturday, March 23 at 10 p.m. Pacific Time.
In their first TV appearance as a group, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Mark Mason (pictured at center), guitarist K.O. Saltsman (right) and bassist-backing vocalist Tina Colson (left) perform exclusive unplugged versions of four original songs. "Blame it on the Moon" is from Shine So Hard’s 2012 debut EP, “The Shoreline at Sunset,” while “Semiotics," “Me + You” and the band's latest single, “Beautiful Girl," are more recent recordings. This "House Blend" show also marks the TV premiere of all four songs.
Between Shine So Hard's performances, Peeples talks with Mason, Saltsman and Colson about their pre-group lives (Mason’s an audio engineer and fronted a groove-rock band called Seven Car Pileup in Arizona, where he’s from; Saltsman, from Austin, played in bands, earned a film degree and was a broadcaster; Colson is an L.A. artist/photographer friend of Mason’s who also plays bass); how they met in 2011 (there’s a CraigsList connection); and living the life in L.A.’s funky but hip Echo Park district.
The three bandmates also reveal where they copped the group’s name; how they write and record their original songs; and what legendary L.A. rock bands like The Doors, Buffalo Springfield and X have to do with Shine So Hard’s present-day “sonic pictures.”
