Life Leadership with Alex Urbina – May 5, 2014
On today’s show Host Alex Urbina and co-host Wendy Amara sit down and talk with SCvi Charter School about self-driven leadership. What it takes for someone to step up as a leader and have that drive to get things done and be better academically and emotionally.
You can let kids grow when you give them the space to explore, Wendy Said.
At traditional schools you learn math, english, science, Alex said. However at SCvi they do teach those things but also more and let kids do it in a different way, not just teacher/ student and a book.
Today, kids are learning outside the box and they need to do that. With this new style of learning at SCVi kids are learning different ways of thinking and it will develop in the long run and have them ready for the world, Alex said.
People sometimes do not realize that they have the power to create whatever they want, Alex said. I haven’t found a school yet that allow kids to grow like this until I saw SCVi.
At SCVi, we challenge the kids to be well rounded and I think it is very important and critical in this day and age to be well rounded and have a new way of thinking/learning, a SCVi Facilitator said.
