Life Leadership with Alex Urbina – March 24, 2014
On today’s show Alex and Wendy sit down with SCVi Charter facilitators and discuss project-based learning and the myths of the project based learning curriculum.
SCVi Charter is a school that is project based and many see the school as something not at the same level as the traditional school. At SCVi charter they strive to provide the students/learners with the possibilities to learn what they want to and what spikes their interest.
What is Common Core Standards?
These are standards that were/are created for students brought up in today’s world.
“These core values develop grit, or stamina, to get through their learning on their own, “ a SCVi Facilitator said.
These standards are rigorous, make no mistake about it, but it is a new style of learning and teaching but it creates great value in the long run.
This provides the learners with the ability to accept fail and be ok with failing and living up to their potential.
We prepare kids to be ready for college and to build a way to think and learn with a great interpersonal growth.
We give the students not just a standard, you learn this and this, then you graduate, but a chance to learn this but in different ways.
