Life Leadership with Alex Urbina – June 2, 2014
On today’s show Host Alex Urbina and Co-Host Wendy Amara sit down and talk with local high school counselors about the effect counselors have with students, Truly making a difference and does it really work on the kids/students.
Sometimes kids do not even know they have a high school counselor, Wendy said. I didn’t see mine for more than five minutes twice a year. It didn’t real effect me because they just listed things I should do and moved on.
The counselors at my school I couldn’t tell you who they were, Alex said. I guess I didn’t talk to them because I didn’t have a real interest in going to college and that is all I saw counselors do.
What I work with is the challenged kids who have a disorder mentally or otherwise and help those selected students with their education and future, SCVI School Counselor said.
I help them both emotionally and educationally as well. Usually we are working with kids that have been identified and others that have not been diagnosed.
