Families in Action: Monday August 25, 2014
Cary Quashen and Bob Sharits dove right into the latest episode of Families In Action, brought to you by ACTION Family Counseling and KHTS AM-1220. Bob Sharits and Cary Quashen really wanted to make that clear, because the radio hosts were oozing with excitement as they prepared to start a bombshell hour of drug education. Without any delay, they quickly introduced Vijay Rathi who is an agent of the Drug Enforcement Agency. before working for over 15 years wiretapping and going straight into the lion’s den as a DEA Agent, he first began his career in law enforcement assigned to eradicating gangs in Southern California. While Vijay’s presence was exciting, it was equally sombering as he soon began to dish out hard facts that many Santa Clarita Valley parents need to know, but don’t often hear. That is what fuels Bob and Cary, knowing that families are better prepared for the advent of new drugs, exposing kids’ new techniques to hide said drugs, and especially to help those in and considering recovery. Vijay shared no holds barred information regarding all things drug related. From gangs, prison sentences, overdosing, and even death. However, the ACTION DEA guest really wanted to explain the workings behind how and why kids are ingesting new drugs such as spice and bath salts. He explained the dangerous implications this has on Santa Clarita Valley youth and what can be done about it.
