On todays show Myles brings on Shannon Smith and Lisa Frost from Henry Mayo. Myles begins the show talking about the Santa Colorita 5k Fun Run, also known as the Happiest 5k on the Planet, is an un-timed race at Castaic Lake Recreation Area that celebrates healthiness, happiness, individuality, and giving back to the SCV community. If you’re interested in checking out this event please visit SantaColorita.Com. Shannon Smith who is a stroke specialist also talks to us about some ways to prevent a stroke. She also talks to us about some of the symptoms that you can see when you are having a stroke and says you have up to 4 and a half hours to get treated to dissolve the blood clot. Shannon also talks to us about the care after you leave the hospital and the check ups that they do to support you through the process. Lisa Frost also talks to us about palliative care and discuss some of the myths behind it and what makes you eligible to palliative care. What exactly is palliative care? Palliative care is comfort care given to a patient who has a serious or life-threatening disease, such as cancer, from the time of diagnosis and throughout the course of illness. It is usually provided by a specialist who works with a team of other healthcare professionals, such as doctors, nurses, registered dietitians, pharmacists, and social workers.

About Kyle Jellings

Kyle Jellings grew up in the Santa Clarita Valley and graduated from Canyon High School in 2004. Following his high school career he spent three years at College of the Canyons where he graduated with his Associate's Degree. Kyle then traveled to Utah where he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Communication: Journalism emphasis from Utah Valley University. While in Utah, Kyle had the opportunity to do many different internships which included a Production Assistant at ESPN 700 and a Media Relations Assistant with the 2009 MLS Cup Champions Real Salt Lake. Kyle was married to his wife Paola in 2008 and they had their first child, Calvin, in August of 2010. When Kyle is not at KHTS he enjoys spending time with his family and being involved in sports in any way.
