Deputies Ask For Public's Help In Identifying Tree-Felling Vandals

khts_crime_genericDetectives from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station are seeking public assistance in identifying several suspects responsible for an incident of vandalism that occurred overnight Friday at Canyon High School.

 

On that night, several unknown suspects between the ages of 15 and 19 entered the Canyon High School campus and cut down a tree, using chainsaws. When the tree fell, it narrowly missed power lines and campus structures.

The 70-foot-tall pine tree was 40 years old. The suspects were seen on video about 4 a.m. running away after cutting down the tree. Damage is estimated at approximately $15,000.

The vandalism is being investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department - Santa Clarita Sheriff's Station's COBRA unit.
