Life Is Good At Cobblestone Cottage

CobblestoneCottage-JPG

One of the many treasures of the Santa Clarita Valley, Cobblestone Cottage offers the latest fashion trends in women’s apparel and jewelry, home and garden décor, as well as gourmet coffees and foods. Some of these brands include Vera Bradley, Brighton, Tyler Candles, and Pandora. Each of Cobblestone Cottage’s brands has its very own story and message, whether it’s encouraging environmental friendliness or creating handcrafted jewelry.

Life is Good, whose mission is to spread optimism, is one of these brands. Started in 1994, Life is Good features Jake, the smiling face, and an emphasis on humility, simplicity, and humor. It was started by brothers Bert and John Jacobs who attempted to sell their first tee shirts by going door-to-door in college dormitories until they found their true inspiration, Jake, was on a poster hanging on their apartment wall.

Today, the New England based brand has utilized its success to start its own festival, the Life is Good Festival, as well as an organization called the Life is Good Playmakers. The festival is a two-day celebration of music, games, and interactive arts activities held at Prowse Farm in Canton, MA. 100% of the profits raised goes towards helping children in need, which happens to be the focus of the Life is Good Playmakers. The organization’s mission is to “help kids overcome poverty, violence, and illness,” which they achieve by “using the power of joyful play to heal and strengthen children.” The Playmakers include thousands of providers, teachers, counselors, and healthcare professionals who are dedicated to improving the lives of young people.

Cobblestone Cottage owner, Kathy Allie, says, “I’m a positive person and like to be around other like-minded people. So the fun nature of the graphics on Life is Good is a perfect fit for me and for Cobblestone Cottage. It’s sort of like, ‘spreading the love!’” Allie also says that aside from its optimistic message, the Life is Good merchandise is also made with great quality fabric. She claims that they hold up after being washed many times and actually “just seem to look better and better with age.”
Although Cobblestone Cottage is not directly involved with the Playmakers, they still contribute by giving a portion of all Life is Good profits back to the Playmakers program in order to help the children they work with. This summer, while you’re soaking up the sun and taking advantage of your free time thinking that life is actually pretty good, you, too, can contribute to the Life is Good mission. Head on over to Santa Clarita’s Cobblestone Cottage, enjoy the soft fabric of Life is Good products, and of course, spread the optimism.
