Libraries To Saddle Up With Western Readings To Welcome Cowboy Festival

cowboyfestival_2012Cowgirls and cowboys are invited to ride on down to the Santa Clarita Public Library for a series of western themed events during “Cowboy Week,” from Monday, April 16 to Friday, April 20.

In anticipation of the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival on Saturday April, 21 and Sunday, April 22 at Melody Ranch Motion Pictures Studios, the Valencia, Newhall, and Canyon Country Libraries will host Western story times for children ages 3-to-5 year olds.

Author Janet Squire will also visit each library to give readings of her popular children’s book, Gingerbread Cowboy, which is a Western tale about a gingerbread man who escapes the clutches of a hungry coyote.  Copies of Gingerbread Cowboy will be available for purchase to be signed by the author.

The following schedule includes the times, dates and programming available at each library:

Canyon Country Library:

  • Tuesday, April 17 at 10 and 11 a.m.: Western-Fest Story Time (ages 3-5)
  • Thursday, April 19 at 6 p.m.: Book reading and signing of Gingerbread Cowboy by author Janet Squire

Newhall Library:

  • Monday, April 16 at 4 p.m.: Book reading and signing of Gingerbread Cowboy by author Janet Squire
  • Thursday, April 19 at 12:30 p.m.: Western-Fest Story Time (ages 3-5)
  • Friday, April 20 at 12:30 p.m.: Western-Fest Story Time (ages 3-5)

Valencia Library:

  • Monday, April 16 at 12:30 p.m.: Western-Fest Story Time (ages 3-5)
  • Tuesday, April 17 at 7 p.m.: Book reading and signing of Gingerbread Cowboy by author Janet Squire
  • Wednesday, April 18 at 12:30 p.m.: Western-Fest Story Time (ages 3-5)
