SCV Fishing Report April 10th: Local Lakes And Saltwater Report

Halibut Hal here with this weeks KHTS fishing report.  The weather was awesome and the fishing.............

Freshwater Report:
1)  Castaic Lake....It's spawning mode as the largemouth bass move into the 2 foot to 15 foot depth of shallow water.
Also try the Lagoon in the shallows.  There continues to be good catfishin' in the 80 foot depth by the buoy line.

2)  Pyramid Lake....There is still a decent striped bass bite happening for fish in the 2 to 4 pound size.  Find the bait schools and you should be able to nab a few stripers.  For largemouth bass, they continue to move into the shallow water to spawn.  On Saturday night (4/14) there is going to be a night-time fishing event for boat anglers.

3)  Lake Piru....Darn good bass and crappie action here!  The bass have moved shallow to spawn and anglers have had many limits of bass and several anglers have also made limits of crappie (the limit for crappie is 25 fish).

4)  Lake Cachuma....Many limits of trout for anglers trolling; try Santa Cruz Bay.  Try Cachuma Bay for catfish and crappie.  There will be one last trout plant this coming Friday, prior to the Trout Derby taking place on 4/14 and 4/15.

Saltwater Report:
Landings from Long Beach to Marina Del Rey:
On Easter Sunday, the Redondo Special on the AM half day run, turned in 180 assorted rockfish along with a few miscellaneous bonus fish.  From Pierpoint Landing in Long Beach, the half day boat "Southern Cal" brought back limits of boccacio plus several assorted rockfish on its Sunday morning run.  Three boats went out of Marina Del Rey and caught quite a few red snapper along with a few sculpin and assorted rockish.

Oxnard/Ventura Landings:
The three party boats fishing from Ventura Sportfishing got full limits of rockfish for all passengers.  The "Island Spirit" also had 6 lingcod, while the "Pacific Dawn" on an overnight run had 12 lings along with 15 ocean whitefish while fishing the outer Islands.  From Oxnard, the "Pacific Islander" from Channel Islands Sportfishing had a terrific trip on it's overnight run..... nabbing limits of rockfish along with 35 lingcod!

......well, until next week, this is Halibut Hal signing off for your Hometown Station, KHTS AM 1220.
