How To Live Large In A Small Space

Tami_Smight_HeadshotHow To Live Large In A Small Space

It can be challenging to create a traffic flow in a small room and still provide ample seating for family members and guests.   I have a few design tricks up my sleeve that will help you to decorate your small room.

Consider armless furnishings, sofa, loveseat and/or chairs to offer an open, light mass to the furniture.  Typically arms on furniture take up valuable space.  Armless options visually expand the space and create a better flow through the room and allow for greater conversation between guests.

Float the furniture in the middle of the room, allowing a greater flow of traffic in and out of the space.

A coffee table and rug will anchor this floated seating group and define the seating as “living room” or “family room”.

A great way to add light to a floating floor plan is to place a console table, or desk behind the sofa.  Add a lamp for ambient lighting and the room will feel much larger.

Pulling it all together is what we do best.  If you need professional help, call Tami Smight Interiors for your design consulation.  661 430-0127
