Santa Clarita Home & Garden Show
When: Saturday, March 31 from 9am-5pm and Sunday, April 1 from 10am-4pm

The 3rd Annual Santa Clarita Home & Garden Show is going to be bigger than ever.  Over 130 businesses and organizations will be participating.  New for 2012 is the Emergency Expo with emergency equipment and displays where you can learn to be prepared (see entry below).  There will be a Kid’s Zone, RV Show and Garden Party Community Stage.  Admission is FREE.  Expect drawings, give-aways and promotional discounts.  On Sunday there will be plant give-aways.    Click here to learn more about the Home & Garden show.

Emergency Expo (part of the SC Home & Garden Show)
When: Saturday, March 31 from 9am-5pm
Hyatt Regency Valencia, 24500 Town Center Drive, Valencia (Town Center at McBean Parkway)
Details: Learn to be prepared at the Emergency Expo.  This year the Emergency Expo will be part of the Home & Garden Show (see entry above).  The Emergency Expo will take place on Saturday only.  There will be several demonstrations, such as Drop/Cover/Hold, dog rescue, fire turnout competition and climbing rescue.  The kids can enjoy face painting, Smokey Bear and crafts.  Admission to the Emergency Expo is FREE.  Make a plan, build a kit, stay informed.  Click here for more information.

Castaic Relay For Life
When:  Saturday, March 31 starting at 9am through Sunday, April 1 at 9am
Where:  Castaic Lake
Details:  You can make a difference at the Castaic Relay For Life.    At Relay For Life, you remember those lost, honor survivors and raise awareness.  Every dollar raised will help the fight against cancer.  Form your own team or join another, but get out there and help the fight.  Opening ceremonies begin at 9am.  The survivor lap begins at 9:30am.  The poignant luminaria ceremony begins at 9pm.  Many activities and booths will be active on Saturday, March 31.  One of the main features of this year’s Relay is Brooke White from American Idol.  She will be performing at 10am.  After Brooke’s performance there will be a meet-and-greet opportunity.  Click here to read much more on Castaic Relay For Life in an article written by KHTS’ own Mark Archuleta.  Click here to see photos from the 2011 Castaic Relay For Life.  Click hereto register for the walk or for more information.

COC Theater – “The Heidi Chronicles”
When:  Wednesday, March 28 through March 31 at 8pm; Sunday, April 1 at 2pm
Where:  Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons, 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road, Valencia
Details:  This Tony and Pulitzer Prize winning play will be at the College of the Canyon Black Box Theater.  The play tells the story of the “glory days of the feminist movement through the character of art historian Heidi Holland”.  Due to adult content, children under age 5 will not be allowed in the theater and parental discretion is advised for children under age 13.  Click here for more information and tickets or call 661-362-5304.

Scratch Golf – Spring Break Junior Golf Camp

Where: Canyon Theatre Guild, 24242 Main Street, Old Town Newhall
Details:  How lucky can Santa Clarita get?  Canyon Theatre Guild has “Barefoot in the Park”.  Neil Simon’s play tells the story of newlyweds Paul and Corie.  Paul is a conservative young lawyer and Corie is a carefree young wife.  This comedy follows their new marriage and life in their five-story Greenwich Village walk-up.  KHTS’ own Morning Man, George Cummings plays the up-stairs neighbor Victor Velasco.  Corie and Paul play matchmaker with Victor and Corie’s mother when she comes for a visit.  On opening night there will be a champagne reception at 7pm.  Call 661-799-2702 for tickets.  Click here for more information and tickets.

What:  St. Clare’s Lenten Fish Fries will “Reel You In”!
When: Friday, March 30th, 2012, Dinner is served from 4:30–8:00pm
Where: St. Clare’s is located at 19606 Calla Way in Canyon Country.

What:  Hart High – E-Waste Disposal Event
When:  Saturday March 31 and Sunday, April 1 from 9am-4pm
Where:  Home Depot, 20642 Soledad Canyon Road (at Ruether Avenue)
Details:  Hart High School is teaming up with Home Depot for an E-Waste Recycling Event.  E-Waste is any electronic equipment which includes: computer monitors, printers, laptops, televisions, fax machines, etc.  Car and forklift batteries will be accepted.  Microwave ovens will be accepted, but there is a $5 service fee.   Not accepted:  refrigerators, washer & dryers, fluorescent light bulbs and household batteries.  If you have any questions, call Hart High at 661-259-7575.

What: Agua Dulce Women’s Club Fish Fry

What:  KHTS/Bowman High Adopt A U.S. Marine Unit

Where:  Donations can be dropped off at Bowman High, 21508 Centre Point Parkway or at KHTS AM-1220, 27225 Camp Plenty Road (at Soledad), Suite 8, Canyon Country
Details:  Bowman High School and KHTS have adopted a U.S. Marine unit far from home.  We’re asking your help in showing support for these heroes.  Many of you know Cary Quashen from KHTS show Families in Action and from the support program Action Family Counseling.  Cary’s son, Corporal Sean Quashen is in a Marine unit currently serving in Afghanistan.  Please help by donating dried foods, books, clothing, electronics and other materials that will be sent as care packages to this Marine unit.  Donations can be dropped off at Bowman High or at KHTS AM-1220.  Click here for a full list of items.
